What does it mean to be a counselor at either Eagle
Feather or Eagle Wing?
For most it is the culmination of a decade
of being a camper at Eagle Feather, Eagle Wing and also a student
at The School of Swimming.
For parents wishing to look ahead and
see the profile of tomorrow’s counselors, look across the dining
table at your own son or daughter.
Not all become counselors, but for those
who do, the experience may well provide some of the most service
laden and educationally rigorous years of their lives. The rigor
of the social, moral and leadership training they receive is
theirs for life, just as the service they render becomes equally
permanent for their campers.
For
thirty five years, the graduates of The School of Swimming, Camp
Eagle Feather and Eagle Wing have been charged with the task of
delivering The Eagle Feather/ Eagle Wing mission: to assist our
campers to become Ladies and Gentlemen. Counselors are given the
means, training and the authority that must accompany ‘actual’
responsibility. They are burdened by the responsibility to carry
out this mission with the same diligence as their forbearers. Then
they are held accountable for the use to which they put these
gifts.
Sadly, there are few times in a person’s
life when it is possible to do this kind of work, receive this
kind of training, and to contribute in such a direct and positive
way to the betterment of one’s fellows.
If you have the desire to serve in such
a way, call us. If you are already doing so...well done!
